THE REVEREND DR. MARY E. IVEY

The Reverend Dr. Mary E. Ivey is the noted author of two outstanding books, "Another Woman at the Well: Truth Reigns Supreme," her autobiography, which details her life, marriages, domestic violence, the explosion at her home on July 4,2009, and, how her faith has kept her life focused, and, "Care Giving and Love," a must have book that serves as an all-inclusive Resource Guide for Churches, Ministries, Christian Advocates, Health Care Providers, Families and Friends.

​Dr. Ivey is President and CEO of Maine Avenue Ministries. She also serves as Assistant Chaplain at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Previously, she was known as an accomplished, creative and visionary teacher, student-parent home school coordinator, and school principal in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School System, prior to  being invited to relocate to Washington, D.C. to become Director of Evaluation for the Federal Government's DC Model Cities Program.

Shortly before the closing of the five year Model Cities Program, she became Chief of Long Range Planning for the District of Columbia Government, where she was responsible for the multi-million dollar capital improvement program. She also served as Chief of Mental Health Planning, where she worked on the executive committee for the deinstitutionalization of Saint Elizabeth's Hospital. Dr. Ivey produced the first five year document (plan) for Mental health in the nation's capital.

Dr. Ivey attended both Wesley Theological Seminary and Howard University School of Divinity receiving both Master and Doctorate Degrees in Urban Ministry and Theology. Maine Avenue Ministries grew out of a 1999 class project while she was a student at Wesley. Her Dean and Professors served on Maine Avenue's first Advisory Board.

Dr. Ivey serves as a member or chairperson of numerous community organizations throughout the greater District of Columbia area, and has been the recipient of numerous awards for Outstanding, Excellent and Superior Service.

​

Dr. Ivey currently resides in Washington, D.C.; however, her ministry travels takes her around the world.
